DEFAMILIARISASI MITOS DAN HEGEMONI KUASA DALAM NOVEL PULANG (Defamiliarization of Myth and Hegemony of Power in Pulang Novel)
Abstract
Leila S. Chudori refreshed the literary world by incorporating the concept of defamiliarization into her work. In the world of characters, her novel contains many “oddities” to perform, like character of character, memorable things, place, or events occurs in the story. The novel is analyzed using defamiliarization technique because the processing method is clearly visible in the motive deviation, narrative structure, and hypogram story. With the hermeneutic research method, it can be analyzed that Leila S. Chudori has presented a different point of view from the bloodiest historical events in Indonesia. The definitions that Liea S. Chudori revealed were figures who were suspected of being communist and their relatives, who experienced human rights violation, lost their citizenship status, lost their rights to work and even had difficulty finding a mate. Leila S. Chudori exposes the rotten chair character of the top bureaucrat who take refuge behind the hegemony power, while enjoying a luxurious life above the plight of the people in general. Leila S. Chudori has generated new emphaty through the defamiliarization of myths, from the long history of New Order hegemony of power, which was then overthrown with great fanfare.
